1.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate rubbish, 14 Dec 2005
By A Customer
If I could give this book no starts, I would. This book purports to be the 'ultimate guide to body building nutrition', when in fact it is nothing of the sort. The first clue should have come with the opening chapter; in any reputable book this would have talked about proteins, carbohydrates and fats, their impacts on muscle building etc. etc but instead it is about how to choose which pills, supplements and powders to take. In fact, actual 'nutrition' plays a minimal role in this book. The second chapter is on insulin; and is six pages long with most of the space taken up with close-up, poor quality, black and white shots of body parts and very little text. In fact, the author doesn’t even mention how insulin levels can be raised in the body until the last paragraph, when he writes something akin to 'the best was to raise insulin levels in through the food you eat'. Not very informative, is it? If you want a quick 101 guide to various nutrients and their role in the body, this book is decent enough. If you want something that will tell you how to construct a dietary and nutritional regimen to support you lifting programme. Look elsewhere.
