There are some truly lovely creations in this book, and instructions on how to make all of them.

There were two things that made this a great for me; the materials people used, and their methods of using them. I've been making things from wood for a while, and have a love of boxes (almost a fetish).

Whilst a major feature of the book is the patterns for duplicating the designs inside, the real...search for words...sweetness of it was seeing how accomplished woodworkers put their boxes together (I'm just an amateur, and I tend to make things up as I go along). New and simple joining techniques are on show all over the place, and they give you more ideas of how you can put that box together that you've been thinking about for ages...

Another nice feature is the use of materials you wouldn't usually think of using - there are some really *beautiful* examples using the edges of the trunk (the gnarly, knotty stuff).

If you like wooden boxes or woodworking, I guarantee you'll be looking at some of these with a sense of awe. I did.

And then it shows you how to make them yourself :)
