A lovely book that serves as a great source for inspiration.

The book is divided in several themes. Each theme starts with a photo of a cross stitched sampler full of lovely motifs.However, one is unlikely to stitch the sampler as presented. I rather see it as a display of different patterns that one can use for own creations. Therefore the need for some own creativity, fantasy and design skills in order to compose an own "piece of art".

The negative aspect of the book is that seemingly very lovely patterns are presented, but without a illustration of a stitched version. Personally, I always find these project less attempting to stitch.

At any rate, a valuable book for patterns suitable for any special occasion in our lives.

This book is a source of great frustration for me. I want to spend ALL my time stitching ALL the designs but - I have to learn a living some of the time!

In England we seem have an abundance of "strait laced" design books so it is very refreshing to find a book where the designer has not forgotten that some of us cross stitchers do like "fun" designs as well. The Home Sweet Home and Mother Nature samplers are very innovative and each motif is enchanting.

The motifs in all sections seem to retain a "simple country" quality but the observation and attention to detail make me smile. Donna Kooler manages to combine originality with tradition and the design results are fascinating. As my work progresses family and friends always want to see each new section. In my opinion, the best cross stitch designs are the ones that people want to look and at and enjoy. Warm and wonderful - more like this please Donna! ...and could anyone arrange for more hours in a day?
