5.0 out of 5 stars This is my bible!, 13 Nov 2003
By Steen Lykke Laursen "Fortes Fortuna Juvat" (Oksboel, Denmark) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I'm disappointed in my self and the Danish Army for not having been introduced to this book before 1998. On field training exercises I have often seen, and still do, eight or nine out of every ten problems and/or mistakes recognized in this book dated back to 1947! The Danish Army obviously hasn't come very much further over the past 45 years. Men Against Fire even suggests to the reader how to deal with the problems and avoid making the mistakes. That is why this book has become my "bible" - my Field Manuel for battle command and leadership - and I use it extensively as a basis, foundation, source for inspiration and examples when I train future Army Cadets and Infantry Officers (Platoon Commander's Battle Course/Basic Infantry Officers Course). I recommend Men Against Fire to these Students but it applies to every combat soldier from the youngest NCO all the way up to and including the commanding General. The book has qualified for my list "Platoon Commander's Favourites", which only contains what I would refer to as five star material.
Capt. SLL Staff Officer, Tactics Branch, Danish Army Combat School.
