4.0 out of 5 stars This is the unltimate Smalltalk encyclopedia., 19 April 2001
I am an OU mature student who is half way through an Object Orientated based course, which has the programming basis of Smalltalk 80 (the foundling of Object Orientated Programming).

This book has given me the necessary reference guide to enhance upon the programming skills I am currently studying. It has allowed me to expand upon areas of concern, and its easy style of reading make it a good companion for learning.

Although it would appear that the potential reader should have some prior programming experience before attempting this book, I found it mostly easy to follow; it's structure and explanation of the language being sound.

I would recommend this book to any potential OO programmers. As a study aid it has helped me tremendously, and as a guide to Smalltalk it has been invaluable.
