When I first saw this book reviewed in "Cat Fancy," I knew I had to have it. We have a house full of rescued, formerly wild and stray black and black-and-white cats, so I was sure that Ruth Brown, one of my favorite illustrators (and now one of my favorite authors) would be able to capture what I think of as the essence of black cat. They are so very special. The story is so short and so sweet, and says far more than the few words printed on the page. I think children as well as grown-up cat-lovers everywhere will enjoy reading it over and over. Perhaps it will become one of those favorite Christmas traditions, a story full of wonderful paintings to remember not just at the holidays but all the year through.
