5.0 out of 5 stars One of my happiest childhood memories, reprinted at last, 17 Oct 1997
By A Customer
As a kid, I loved this and the other Melendy family books as much as anything in my school library. The cosmopolitan New York setting---combined with the unconventional composition of this artistically-inclined, close-knit family---was a true antidote to my jangling, tacky, discordant 1970's real world. What pure escapism! I have been heartbroken at being unable to find these stories for my own daughter, and I'm thrilled they are finally available again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Saturdays is a wonderful story of family and growing up., 16 April 1999
By A Customer
I first found this book at a resale shop when I was eleven or so. I bought it for 10 cents. It was one of the best investments of my life. It quickly became (and still is) my favorite children's novel. I enjoyed the stories of the ISAAC club. I really found so many afternoons of enjoyment reading about Miranda's petit fours, Oliver's adventure at the circus, the near death of Mona and of course finding out that "the elephant" was such a great lady. I re-read it as an adult and enjoyed it thouroughly. I reccommend this book to anyone looking for a happy, carefree story of family and adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Children's book, set in the 40's, 16 Aug 1996
By A Customer
Four siblings combine their allowances so that on each Saturday, one of the children can have an adventure of their own. One child chooses and art museum, another a play, another a trip to a hair salon and the other..... you will just have to read to find out. Wonderful stories that let each child shine through.
