Product Description
"Bendowa", or "A talk on wholehearted practice of the way", was written in 1231 and conveys Dogen's teachings of the practice and symbolism of zazen - seated meditation. This translation includes an introduction on the place of "Bendowa" in Dogen's writings.

This is Zen Master Dogen's primary writing on the inner workings and ecology of meditation. Included in the book is an extensive, down-to-earth, and entertaining commentary by Uchiyama Roshi, an important modern Japanese Soto Zen master.
