I bought this book for one reason alone: it covers the use of optional Malaysian/Singaporean bonus tiles: cat, rat, man, pot of gold, fisherman and fish, which many manuals on Mah Jong omit to mention. The rest of the book is clear, with illustrations throughout. It doesn't cover areas such as strategy, history and the symbolism/philosophy of the game as Whitney and Millington do, but for what it does offer it does it well.

Playing the form we play in Honolulu, this book covers all the bases and gives thorough explanations of play, scoring and strategies. It is a "must have" for our group. Mah Jong!
