Product Description

In The Unsung Hero, award-winning author Suzanne Brockmann dazzled readers with her remarkable cast of tough and tender US Navy SEALs. Now her daring men in uniform return for The Defiant Hero--a thrilling novel of steadfast courage, intimate passions and the profound risks that are taken in the name of love.

"The United States refuses to negotiate with terrorists." Meg Moore remembered the warning from her job as a translator in a European embassy. Those same words will spell out a death sentence for her daughter and grandmother who have been kidnapped by a lethal group called the Extremists. Meg will do anything to meet their unspeakable demands; anything--even kill--to save her child.

When Navy SEAL Lieutenant, junior grade, John Nilsson is summoned to Washington, DC, by the FBI to help negotiate a hostage situation, the last person he expects to see holding a foreign ambassador at gunpoint is Meg. He hasn't seen her in years, but he's never forgotten how it feels to hold her in his arms. John could lose his career if he helps her escape. She will lose her life if he doesn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars defending their country is their duty-love is their reward!!, 24 April 2001
This is up to and even exceeds Suzanne Brockmann's usual high standard. The story is a follow on of her "Unsung Hero" but also stands alone as a exiting and thrilling novel. The hero John Nilsson,is her ideal of a fabulous man, deeply passionate yet with some of the flaws that make him so adorable to women. The heroine Meg is brilliant as a widow fighting to keep her daughter and grandmother safe during a kidnapping because of her work at an American Embassey. The love scenes are so sizzling and steamy too be breathtaking and the interaction of the secondary characters, who also appeared in "Unsung Hero" is brilliant especially between Alyssa Locke and Sam Starrett, just keeps bubbling along, . Lets hope they get a book of their own. "The Defiant Hero" is a page turner, drop everything right now and buy yourself a copy, you won't be dissapointed!!!.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking race to romance, 11 May 2003
As the follow up to Brockmann's stunning first Troubleshooter novel, The Unsung Hero, The Defiant Hero defies all expectations. Moments after he finishes a training exercise that he was expected to fail, John 'Nils' Nilsson gets a totally unexpected call and finds himself aiding a woman he'd fallen in love with years before to get back her kidnapped daughter and grand-mother. From a start that sends your heart up into your mouth, the action travels non-stop through to a touching finish.

Although the romance in The Defiant Hero isn't vastly different in tone to that in the first book in the Troubleshooter series, it is very steamy and very believable. All three pairings that emerge in this book, Meg, the heroine, and Nils; Eve, the grandmother, and Roger, the man she fell for and tricked at the age of 15; and the stunning Alyssa Locke and Sam Starrett keep the heat of the passion running all the way through the novel.

The action is break-neck, the chase not slowing until the very last pages and continues the pace started in The Unsung Hero. This is a serious must-read for any fan of dazzling romance, tough, caring heroes, SEALs at that, and anyone that just loves a great read in general. Well worth buying and storming through immediately.
