I purchased a 1999 Mazda 626, 2.0 engine. Will the Chilton manual covering 1990 - 1998 models also cover the 1999 model year. I don't think there are any major changes in the 1999 model. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The book has a wealth of illustrative detail, and covers special tools and precautions extensively. The text adequately details the steps required for removal and replacement of most items, and some diagnostic advice is included.
What you don't get is deep explanations of the functioning of the various systems, so don't expect to gain an understanding of, for example, the electronic fuel injection system.
Some of the diagrams would benefit from reproduction on a larger scale, but most are adequate.
Its definitely worth the money.
