From the Author
Writing the 1994-98 Ford Mustang Manual.Being a "muscle car" enthusiast, I was excited to write the 1994-98 Mustang Total Car Care manual, especially considering the Ford Mustang is one of the few "true" American muscle cars left in production. I thoroughly enjoyed myself while writing this book, and took extra time to provide you with what a Mustang owner would need to maintain and, God forbid, repair his/her Pony car. I covered all three engines available, from the 3.8L engine in the standard Mustang to the 4.6L DOHC 305hp "powerhouse" in the Cobra. Also, I covered the changes in suspension between the three models (Mustang, Mustang GT and Cobra). This manual has all of the features of our popular Total Car Care line of books. It contains everything you'll need to maintain and repair your Mustang, including hundreds of step-by-step procedures, photographs and exploded views - all derived from Mustang teardowns we performed in our shop. This manual contains details on basic maintenance, for example, fluid changes and bulb replacement. But it also contains advanced and detailed information like extensive sections on wiring and vacuum diagrams. Finally, to ensure that your Mustang will run well for many years to come, I covered all of the important systems/components, including engine rebuilding, engine management systems (with diagnostic trouble codes!), ABS systems, and even body & trim items, like convertible top motor replacement. To help make the procedures easily understood, the manual contains at least 500 photos, including locations for basic maintenance items and engine management system components. (There is nothing worse than not being able to find a sensor to test it!) I feel that this is one of the best manuals I have written. It even won a bronze medal award for excellence from the International Automotive Media. I hope that you will agree with me that this manual is the best tool you can buy to help you take care of your baby. Let me know what you think; I welcome all types of feedback! George B.
