5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference work on the North American Saturniidae., 2 Dec 2001
By pichu501@hotmail.com (Auckland, New Zealand) - See all my reviews
An excellent reference work covering all aspects of the North American Silk Moths. It includes discussions on the biology, populations, diseases and parasites as well as detailed species by species accounts and notes on rearing, with distribution maps and line drawings of cocoons, pupae and eggs for some species. There are photographs of fully grown caterpillars of each species and of museum type specimens of the adult moths, including males and females and regional variations. Unfortunately there are no photos of the living adult moths. This is a great book for anyone with an interest in saturniid moths.
