Product Description

From the Inside Flap

This Special Rare Breed Edition dedicated to the French Bulldog is the only book of its kind on this irresistible breed. Le Bouledogue Francais, as the French call this comic and affable little dog, excels as a companion dog, a role the ‘Frenchie’ takes most seriously, as he aptly performs his daily clown-like routines. Few breeds lay claim to be as unabashedly affectionate and entertaining as the bat-eared French Bulldog. Whether a home companion or show dog, the French Bulldog approaches his role with flair and joie de vivre. Written by Muriel P Lee, a popular writer and editor of canine books and an owner of French Bulldogs, this book provides the necessary facts about acquiring a puppy, grooming, health care and showing. This book combines the expertise of breed specialists, veterinary surgeons, trainers and behaviourists with a team of experienced book designers, photographers and illustrators to create a resourceful and accurate guide for all French Bulldog owners. Illustrated with over 135 colour photographs, the book proves to be as attractive as it is informative. Innovations of modern science have enabled the publisher to present never-before-seen scanning electron micrograph images produced exclusively for this limited-edition series. --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

'Il est bizarre avec les oreilles de chauve-souris, robust et avec les oeils qui sourient. C'est quoi? C'est le Bouledogue Francais!' 'What's that funny dog with the big bat ears, the sturdy body and the smiling eyes? It's the French Bulldog!' He is not a common breed, but he is unique to dogdom with the most charming of dispositions and delightful of manners. If you are looking for an active dog that will gallop along at your side while you ride your bicycle, or one that will stay at home alone all day, this will not be the dog for you. But once you have a Frenchie and give your heart to him, you will remain a devotee of the breed for a lifetime. --This text refers to an alternate Hardcover edition.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great starting post on the Frenchie, 18 Sep 2001
Books on French Bulldogs are hard to come by. This book is a great introduction to the breed, and is a must read for anyone starting out. With clear & sensible advice for a potential puppy owner. There are many charming photos of Frenchies that capture there sense of fun and devotion as family members, plus chapters covering breed history, puppy care & training, and general care. I'm hooked on the breed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful book for owning or preparing to get a Frenchie!, 11 Mar 2004

(REAL NAME)
This book is a must for anyone who has just got a French Bulldog or is planning to get one.

The book advises you on what to do after you have decided the Frenchie is the dog for you for example, attending shows to meet french bulldogs and breeders rather than viewing the dogs through a photographers lens!

The book gives you advice on how to prepare for your new arrival, making your home safe for a curious puppy and housebreaking your frenchie.

In fact the book advises you right up to the senior years of your Frenchies life!

Finally there is a chapter for those who wish to show their frenchies at events such as Crufts.

There are some good photographs and illustrations in the book with a nice little section at the back of the book where you can put a photo of your frenchie and complete his/her details!
