2.0 out of 5 stars A singing teacher's view, 10 Dec 2002
By A Customer
While this book is very readable and illustrated effectively, there are inaccuracies in the text that could lead readers into vocal problems. The work on registers, resonance and pitch control is now somewhat out of date, and the insistence on the maintenance of a low larynx position could actually harm a voice. There are some good basic guidelines on lifestyle, posture and exercise. Vocal anatomy is generally well explained, but I question the work on function. Approach with caution.

2.0 out of 5 stars Another singing teacher's view, 13 Nov 2004
By A Customer
This is a lively and readable book but he's simply WRONG about a number of things - and they're not LITTLE things that he's wrong about. The natural rise and fall of the larynx, how pitch is created, and how singers can move through registers are just a few of things he's wrong about or giving dubious advice about. The book is really helpful on health and positive outlook, it has a nice encouraging style. But please don't take too much of his technical advice seriously - he needed to do much more research and take much more advice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top notch advice and exercises, 28 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Reading this book and following its advice lead to a marked improvement in my voice immediately. Even the most basic of breathing exercises described have helped my ability and confidence immensely. This guy really knows his stuff and puts it all across in a down to earth and approachable manner. If you serious about improving your voice this book is a must...
