5.0 out of 5 stars They don't make 'em like they used to, 11 Jun 2005
So many of today's films rely on their action content and special effects, gone is the lost art of story telling. Meteor stands out with its fantastic plot, US & Russia unite during the cold war, to defeat a meteor 5 miles wide that's racing towards the earth at 35,000mph. Connery steals the show from a star studded cast, and even manages to pull the sexy Russian assistant. The film doesn't only deal with the threat of the meteor but also the disasters caused by the 'splinters' that strike around the globe.

I found Mint Imperials were the ideal accompanyment....

5.0 out of 5 stars More than a classic - a lifestyle, 30 Sep 2003

I agree whole heartedly with mr mottram on this one, easily sean's greatest role after james bond. The film has everything, a disgruntled NASA employee, his boss who shouts with passion a lot, a pessimistic general with complete distrust for the russians, the pretty young russian love interest and, of course, the evil menacing meteor whose only goal is to annihilate the human race.

The special effects make the movie, as do the classic scenes - watch out for the parrot during the tidal wave!

I can only think that tango2000p was not eating mints whilst watching the film...

5.0 out of 5 stars Meteor - The best movie in the world!!, 18 Sep 2003
This review is from: Meteor [VHS] [1979] (VHS Tape)
To be honest you will not see Sean Connery perform better than he does in this film! This forgotten B movie is an absolute classic! The mighty Connery plays the leading role in a suspense master piece where the Earth is doomed to another ice age by a fierce meteor hurtling its way toward us at terrifying speeds. This time the human race does not rely on a team of ageing oil riggers to save us, just good old fashioned nuclear weapons. Look out for the menacing meteor music and the uplifting missile theme as the two speed toward one another (also the classic English actor who appears on the monitor "Right about........NOW"). This movie is best watched while eating mints. Enjoy
