This book is essentially 20 research papers attached together. The papers were all presented at a workshop on this topic in 1998.

I would not recommend this book to any students of computer vision. The work is quite outdated, at this stage almost 10 years old. Also, the level of technical detail provided does would not allow anyone to implement most of the algorithms provided.

There are much higher quality conferences whose proceedings can be purchased for a lower price.
