Powerful description of losing a spouse to cancer. It is not pretty. Demonstrates the intense inward looking of a remaining spouse caused by the traumatic pain of loss. The self centred attitude of the author is part of his grieving process. I think the author wrote this book to help himself get over the loss of his wife, though I am not sure that he recogised this at the time of writing. May be very helpful specifically if you have just suffered a major loss to compare your own journey,though it will touch raw nerves. May help counsellors to understand grieving through the eyes and the torn emotions of the traumatically grief struck.
