P>Riggs (Gibson) and Murtaugh (Glover), now considering their retirement from the LAPD, are unexpectedly thrown into a gunfight, and it just has to happen when they're out sea fishing in Murtaugh's brand new boat. As you'd expect, the cops win the gunfight and most of the enemies either jump off the boat or try to continue to win. After Riggs has climbed aboard and taken out almost all the remaining enemies, he hears a noise coming from down below, as he opens the covering, he sees a room full of Asian Immigrants, that can mean only one thing. The heat is back on for a fourth time.
LETHAL WEAPON 4 is just more of the same as the other three movies, but Donner has injected a couple of new ideas into the franchise, the countless funny one-liners of Chris Rock and the deadly Martial Arts of Jet Li as the evil, menacing exporter Wa Sing Ku. Gibson and Glover just do what they do all the time as the faultless pairing, fight, shoot and talk their way out of the many catastrophes that they get themselves into throughout the saga. Russo is just as beautiful and seductive as she is in all of her films and Pesci puts in a performance that never fails to amuse and laugh as he makes it through the film being his trademark wimpish self.
LETHAL WEAPON 4 is more of the same, but Donner still makes it work through his use of violence, humour and one-liners that keep on getting better and better, but he tries a couple of new things this time around, and it still works through the entwinement that makes Lethal Weapon a top action collection that should be a part of every film lovers collection.

After having seen a US version of this film I was disappointed to realise that a great deal of the action is cut in the UK 15 cert version. This is made doubly annoying when some of the scenes are shown in the "making of" documentary. Although I loved the film I would not recommend buying this version.

The 4th outing from Lethal Weapon brings the best performance since the original, with all that is expected from them. The action is fast and furious including several great actions with the altogether predictable dislocation of the shoulder scene (just like Yipee kiyah M! F!, from the Die Hard Trilogy). The comedy moments are excellant and those who have seen the trailer with oil truck scene will know that this i just a sample of the humour to come. The film is the perfect mix between comedy and action a real treat. Hopefully not the last we have seen of Glover, Pesci and Gibson.

The wheels haven't quite come off but there's a definite feeling of something loosening in this most recent, and what seems to be the last instalment in the Lethal Weapon series.

The formula of this extremely successful juggernaut, mixing comedy with spectacular stunts and deafening explosions has begun to seem a little familiar, lacking the characterization that had made the initial episodes so appealing.

Danny Glover and the seemingly faster-aging Mel Gibson look like they might be ready for desk work. Hardcore fans of the series may still see some gas left in the tank, but I for one am glad that they decided to call it a day with the fourth instalment. The quality of this franchise peaked at the second film for me, since then it has been on a slow decline and I think they finished at just the right time.

One person who deserves a mention is Asian martial arts star Jet Li , who makes a splash as an unusually sympathetic villain. Although he was mostly mute, I have to admit that his skills as a martial artist really sold the menace of his character, and as the series goes, he is probably the best villain it has had.

Despite a virtually indecipherable plot, the stunts, explosions, and special effects make this lethal weapon the most action packed yet, but this is balanced out nicely with the constant theme of ageing and settling down though out the film.

At the end of the day you will be hard pushed to find another action film of this calibre, but the Lethal Weapon series has definitely come to end with this movie, to push it any further would be flogging a dead horse. If Hollywood do resist the temptation to flog said horse and leave well enough alone the Lethal Weapon series is sure to go down in history as one of the best action series' of all time.

This film is fabulous. The whole series is fabulous. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover perform fabulously. It is a great mix of comedy, action and romance. This film is about good traditional police work, comic moments, frienship and relationship. In this film Riggs and Murtol are after Chinese criminals who are smuggling imigrants. They go through many chases and scrapes and in this film Riggs is going to be a father (mother, girlfriend Rene Russo) and Rodger Murtol is going to be a granddad. Its just an excellent film.

OK, this review is not about the film as I am assuming you know what the film is like before you buy it.
This review and the one star is for the media that the film is on itself.

One star because quite simply the disk is one of those nasty ones out there that have the film on one side and the extras (for what they're worth) on the other. Tiny, minuscule writing around the centre will advise you which side is which, and the side you want to play must have that title text facing up. There's only one thing worse and that is a 'flipper'.
This disc was created the cheap and nasty way, and if only someone had put here that it was one of these types of disks I probably would have plumped for the four film Bluray Set (which is really quite reasonably priced) and thrown out my previous three DVD's.
