5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate A+ Preparation Guide, 6 Dec 2003
With the recent upgrade to the A+ exam, this book offers just about the most realistic chance of passing the new format exams. In the tradition of all A+ books, this book assumes no previous knowledge of computers (this can be a little tongue-in-cheek for the expert who just wants to certify his/her body of knowledge)but the real edge is actually seen in the level of detail undertaken to ensure complete mastery of the concepts presented within. The explanations, for instance, of various methods of data transmission among SCSI devices, and the complete demystification of RAID systems leave one feeling like an expert half way through the chapters. The layout of the material is so logical that intake is almost effortless (for me, at least).

The usefulness of the book far exceeds the certification requirements and this is obvious even from the simplicity of the questions at the end of each chapter in relation to the detail of the chapter itself.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who has their eyes set on becoming A+ certified.

1.0 out of 5 stars This books is NOT up to date !!!!, 9 Feb 2004
With respect to the last reviewer (maybe he works for the publisher). This book doesn't seem up to date to me at all. Some of the questions on the disk are so out of date and badly written, its laughable, some are even wrong. it mentions SATA being only available as pci card mounted......RUBBISH! (if this was printed within the last year, then that would be totally inaccurate)
If you wanna pass your A+ don't buy this, i wasted my money.
