Ben Forta is my favourite writer of computer books. His SQL in ten minutes is an absolute classic and tells you about SQL straight. Maybe he needs to write a COldfusion in 10 minutes for some of the other reviewers of this book!

This book is clearly explained with lots of easy to understand examples (if you are prepared to put in the time)The Coldfusion tag set has increased and so has the complexity of this wonderful scripting language, hence this book has got bigger and a seperate Advanced book has had to be written.

If you want an easier to digest book go for Coldfusion 5 in 21 days. Monihike's jokes are much funnier .... but if you have the time you should go for this classic

Once again Ben Forta and the boys have created the definitive book on ColdFusion Development!

The only small let down is the amount of time spent getting a good CD into the back of the book. I have never really been a fan of these CDs anyway (it is the book I buy!) but having the code already typed in is handy, it is a pity that not much time was spent getting it right.

I am - like many - new to ColdFusion and thought there no better way to learn this Web language than to get a recommended book to learn from.

Sure, this guy knows his onions. I - when it comes to ColdFusion - do not. And this book seems to ignore the fact that many readers are in the same boat as myself. Poorly constructed is the only phrase I can think of.

The learning curve that many books take a pleasent turn. This book decides to break the rules starting with SQL statements... WHY? I want to know how to produce a simple web document and then develop to multii-dimensional arrays, Application constructions and then databases. I kinda figured that the best approach is to read this book back-to-front, since this seems to be the only way to find the learning curve required of a novice.

Personally I would save your [money] and search the web for tutorials... After all this is where I have found myself referring to for ColdFusion info.

This book has now got a dual purpose. On week-days I use it as a door-stop (It's heavy enough) and on week-ends it doubles as a paper wieght. However the nights are getting colder and the log-fire requires more fuel... AH, maybe this is the purpose of this god-awful book?
