4.0 out of 5 stars Learn the basics from the ground up, 9 Oct 2001
By A Customer
Not the most attractive of books to look at. However, looks can be deceiving. This book won't teach you how to draw exciting things in Flash, what it will do though is teach you the mechanics behind Flash and very quickly give you the knowledge you need to explore the program further.
Having worked through the whole book I am now confident to start having a go myself and thirsty for more Flash knowledge.
A very good place to start!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top quality guide for first time flash users, 21 May 2001
By A Customer
This book may not offer you the glossy quality sites that you may ultimately want to produce, but what it does offer, is an excellent guide to the first time flash user. As a first time user myself, this book inconjunction with the 'FLASH 5 bible' and the 'Masters of FLASH', will really help you to enjoy and get the most out of this application. I thoroughly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flash 5 from scratch totally uninspiring, 1 Feb 2001
By Brian H (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
It only took 10 or 15 mins to decide that this book needs to be returned. The website used as an example to teach you flash 5 is absolutely awful. It just left me cold and not inspired to follow the tutorials. Even the book's cd's autorun interface looked cheap and nasty. Don't waste your time with this book there are much better books out there. I just got a couple of the foundation series not only are they cheaper they are light years ahead of this one....
