4.0 out of 5 stars The book that got me started in Java, 24 Feb 2000
By A Customer
Great book to stat to learn what Java is all about. Morrison actually want to teach you something, not just show how clever he is. From here you go on to great things.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor introduction to Java, 5 Feb 2000
By A Customer
Having read the excellent introductory book on HTML in the same series this came as big disappointment. Unlike its HTML brother no useful CD and worse still to use the book you need to download the JDK from Sun Microsystems. Although this was free it tied my 56K modem up for over an hour It is not an easy book to follow with its writing style. No helpful appendix with java commands or syntax

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much caffeine in the writer's Java, 8 Aug 1999
By A Customer
I'm an Idiot, so, I know what I'm, talking about. In an Idiot's book the writing style should be concise-it wasn't. He went into irrelevant analogies which just bored, he repeated himself, yes, he repeated himself. He introduces a new word and then defines it at the end of the paragraph. INTRODUCE-DEFINE-EXPLAIN-EXAMPLES-SUMMARISE

I'll read again
