When I bought PhotoShop 5 I had never used graphics software before. I excitedly installed the program... clicked a few buttons and... nothing! I heard of all these wonderful things you could do with PhotoShop and felt utterly stupid!
I bought this book and it took all the fear out of PhotoShop, explaining it's functions in layman's terms. I now work with PhotoShop daily and teach others how to navigate the interface. This book is fantastic!

Writing an "idiot's guide" to photoshop sounds like some kind of blasphemy. Anybody looking for the power that photoshop offers should not bother with this kind of editions, buy a cheaper application instead and still buy a good book. your book to learn how to use whatever application is quite an investment. After going through a cheaply designed edition such as this for a week or two you realize that maybe you gained in money but you lost in knowledge and what's 10 or 20 pounds difference when we are talking such monster tool as photoshop? I learned from experience, cutting corners with books, since this mean you will most likely study on your own, is simply a waste of valuable time. Keep searching, amazon offers quite a selection on this subject, which is quite complex to be taken lightly. My suggestion? Photoshop 5/5.5 artistry & the photoshop wow! book once you mastered artistry.
