5.0 out of 5 stars This is one the VB books I have ever read!, 16 Jun 1999
By A Customer
I have recently started working with VB in the past year and often found my self wondering how to write useful programs. This book contains some fun and useful projects which in turn explore some of the Active X controls that are commonly used in applications. Excellent sources on using the windows API, DataBase access, and VB Script. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to break into Visual Basic at more than just a beginners level.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for intermediate users, 17 Feb 1999
By A Customer
This book is a great tool for anyone who is familiar with Visual Basic and Object-Oriented Programming and just needs a little more help to get his or her first application started. It touches on several different aspects of VB.

One thing that I would like to have seen more of is examples for creating WebClasses, IIS components, and MTS Components. However, the GUI development content is very good and informative.

This is a great book for those of us who don't need a reference for advanced programming objects and capabilities but do need a reference for the basic IDE and non-programming aspects of VB.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent guide to learning VB, 3 Jan 1999
By A Customer
I am a longtime C++ programmer, and have recently decided to take the plunge and learn VB. This book was extremely helpful and I learned much in a short time. You're creating your first program in no time. The book seems to work well for beginners as well as advanced programmers. Intelligent explanations are mixed in with the examples for a well-rounded learning experience.

The publisher has fixed the problems with the code examples on the web, too.

I heartily recommend this book for beginners as well as programmers experienced in other languages.
