Before I read this book I had no knowledge of how to create a web-page. I found this book quickly gave me the knowledge I needed to create web pages from scratch, and understand how they work. This is a well-written, easy to read beginner's guide that takes you through all the basics of HTML, and briefly introduces the more advanced topics, without going into depth.

The book takes you through all the essentials I can think of - understanding browsers, creating a simple page, text formatting, tables, links, images, forms, frames, stylesheets etc. It then gives you brief but useful insights into more advanced aspects such as Dynamic HTML, Java Script and ActiveX, and finally gives you a short but useful chapter on advertising your site to the world.

You will want to buy yourself a comprehensive refernce manual after you've read this book, but this book meets it's objective to make you a productive wed-developer in a short space of time
