If you are planning a trip to one or more of the seven Canary Islands then this book is a must as an excellent guide that will easily fit inside a pocket or bag and without the weight.

Although it can not go into the same level of detail as the thicker books, it does pack a great deal into a small space (208 pages) with the usual high standard of writing and layout that fans of DK books have come to expect.

There is plenty of information, more than enough to a work out an itinerary. Surely the idea of a travel guide is to give you the best basic information you need so that you can decide if this is a place you want to go to and not to tell you about it all in advance and spoil the experience. More specific information is always available locally when you arrive at your destination if you want to fill your pockets. So what it lacks in volume and detail in makes up for in clarity, variety and choice.

There is an overview of the Canary Islands with basic maps and sufficient detail of the history, culture and facilities of the seven islands and their important towns and villages. If you plan to visit and stay mainly on one of the islands, information is given to get you to the others by air or sea for a day trip.

This book gives a colourful and vibrant flavour of the islands and if you have not visited them previously, I am sure you will want to after reading it. I commend it without hesitation.
