5.0 out of 5 stars Seems like the perfect aquarium book for the complete novice, 30 April 2001

As a complete novice, I found Ms. Sandford's book indespensable in the setting up of my first aquarium. The book details how to go about constructing coldwater, tropical, brackish and marine tanks. While I've yet to see whether her advice leads to a long lived aquatic environment (I'll come back and retract this review if all the fish die), at least I didn't drop new fish into a recently set up aquarium (and I' sure they're happy about that). The book also contains easy to read references on many of the species that one might want swimming around in a new tank (although this does present the problem of wanting a particular fish and having no idea where to get it).

All in all a great, and attractive, book for the beginner.
