5.0 out of 5 stars An invaluable guide to the people side of a takeover, 30 Oct 2000
Good practical approach to the human resource side of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) written by 2 expert hands on management consultants. The reader is given a logical justification as to why company's simply must get better at judging cultural issues in an M&A situation. Whilst USA in its context the tools could be applied outside to any country. Easy to read. 2 to 3 Hours and the reader will have a fairly deep understanding of Galpin and Herndon's approach. The key reason for M&A failures is the lack of cultural appreciation of both companies. The book develops the concept of cultural diligence to sit right along side more normal financial due diligence processes The book is useful to senior company executives and students of MBA programmes as an augmentation to any other strategic transformation processes. Highly recommended but put a blank cover on the outside because do you want everyone to know you are looking into M&A activities?!
