Amazon.co.uk Review
"Clicks" characterises the Internet and all that goes with its current explosive development; "mortar" is the passion that drives a business and its people and creates loyal customers. David Pottruck and Terry Pearce's book is in three parts: it starts with an examination of corporate culture and the elements within it that result in growth. Next it looks at the specific elements of leadership that drive a successful organisation before finally considering the future and the factors that will count as competition increases and the Web's influence extends ever wider.
With plenty of examples and a practical turn of mind, Clicks and Mortar is worth attention. There are many titles that try to encapsulate successful management action--this one expresses similar sentiments but does so in the light of the new realities of the electronic world. Doubtless it does not amount to a magic formula. Nor does it present instant solutions guaranteeing success for every organisation (what does?) but it does provide valuable insights--and against the backdrop of the stage on which future corporate struggles will be fought. --Patrick Forsyth
