5.0 out of 5 stars 8 Random Miniatures, 9 Dec 2008

Please note: There are 8 miniatures in the set. You will receive one of these, selected at random, in a sealed box. It is therefore not possible to select the miniature you will receive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice Minis, 26 Nov 2008
The first set of official 4th edition miniatures for D&D. The quality and selection of minis seems better than the 3rd edition sets, the rares tend to be all larger figures which is nice. The painting isnt great up close, but from a distance it more than does the job. Looking forward to using these with the D&D Rolelaing game.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best D&D booster I have got so far, 26 Jun 2009
By Steven Holliday (Chessington, Surrey, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have bought only one set of Dungeons of Dread and I dont know if I was just very lucky, but it contained the best set of figures I have bought so far! I think I will have to buy another one :o)

I don't play the mini game, instead I bought this for the monsters for role playing 4th edition D&D, which I DM once a month. I've become very sold on the idea of using these plastic mini's as they really enhance gameplay and they are much cheaper than their pewter equivalents and pre-painted.

Each booster pack comes with 8 figures (4 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare), out of a possible 60 figures (12 commons, 24 uncommons and 24 rares). Whist this is a nightmare for collectors who (assuming they get no duplicates) would have to buy 24 packs to get all the rares, it isn't a problem for me as I want a random selection of monster to inspire encounters for my players :o)

The uncommon and rare monsters tend to be higher level monsters and to have a better paint jobs than the commons. Whist the painting isnt great up close on some of the commons, from a distance they more get the job done.

This is the 15th out of 17 Dungeons and Dragons Minatures Booster packs. Wizards of the Coast are being affected by the credit crunch and sadly they have recently had to restructure and lay off some staff. As a result of this they will no longer be producing the D&D Collectible Miniatures Game, instead focusing on non-random and semi-random miniature packs aimed at those role playing 4th edition D&D. There will be two types of packs, one type aimed at players and the other type aimed at DM's.

This is good news for role players and bad news for the miniature players, however, WotC have said that they will support the fans of the mini game in developing their own rules.
