If you like your novels to have plenty of action, very little character development and leave you with countless unanswered questions then this is the book for you.
The events of this book take place after the war of souls trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman but you don`t need to read them to be able to follow this story.The story centres around a dwarf named Ayshe, who after witnessing the destruction of his village by a fearsome white dragon joins a secret society of elves called Dragonsbane aboard a ship called Starfinder, to hunt down and kill the beast.Basically its Moby Dick but with a dragon instead of a whale and a blind elf called Tashara as the Capt. Ahab character.
As I already mentioned there is very little character development and most of the story takes place aboard the cramped confines of the ship but the action sequences are pretty good.There is a brief mention of the forbidden human/elf love between the first mate Harfang and and the elf Jeannara but it is never really expanded upon, not to the extent that JRR Tolkien did anyway.The ending is a bit rushed and anti-climatic and leaves you with loads of unanswered questions regarding the characters and events.Its not a bad book but it certainly is not a great book.
