4.0 out of 5 stars Blood Wars is widely considered to be overall the coolest looking of the D&D miniatures booster packs, 30 Dec 2008

I don't play the mini game, instead I bought this for the monsters for role playing 4th edition D&D, which I DM once a month. I've become very sold on the idea of using these plastic mini's as they really enhance gameplay and they are much cheaper than their pewter equivalents and pre-painted.

Each booster pack comes with 8 figures (4 commons, 3 uncommons and 1 rare), out of a possible 60 figures (12 commons, 24 uncommons and 24 rares). Whist this is a nightmare for collectors who (assuming they get no duplicates) would have to buy 24 packs to get all the rares, it isn't a problem for me as I want a random selection of monster to inspire encounters for my players (and after buying this they are in for a nice suprise).

The uncommon and rare monsters tend to be higher level monsters and to have a better paint job than the commons. Whist the painting isnt great up close on some of the commons, from a distance they more get the job done.

Blood Wars is widely considered to be overall the coolest looking of the D&D miniatures booster packs, you can check out the full list of figures on the Wizards of the Coast website.

This is the 11th out of 17 Dungeons and Dragons Minatures Booster packs, the Demonweb the 17th will be the last.

Wizards of the Coast are being affected by the credit crunch and sadly they have recently had to restructure and lay off some staff. As a result of this they will no longer be producing the D&D Collectible Miniatures Game, instead focusing on non-random and semi-random miniature packs aimed at those role playing 4th edition D&D. There will be two types of packs, one type aimed at players and the other type aimed at DM's.

This is good news for role players and bad news for the miniature players, however, WotC have said that they will support the fans of the mini game in developing their own rules.
