5.0 out of 5 stars excellent read, 18 April 2006
By A. Stamadiades "Raistlin's Secretary" (London, UK) - See all my reviews

This novel is a return after many years to the fold of the Dragonlance Chronicles. And how I missed them!

This book takes you to the time after the Gods have returned to Krynn, as does the magic. The users of wild magic are shunned by the old skool mages and the Wizards conclave (which had been disbanded due to lack of magic).

The heroine of this book is a very young Icewall inhabitant and as you read on you will find her struggling to coep with the wild magic she has been using and the deeper, older magic she has secretly learnt by reading granny's books!

Dalamar the Dark and Jenna, Mistress of the Red Robes make a welcome return as do several other characters.

Just when you think you know where the story is going, it twists and turns, making you want to turn each page quickly to know the outcome of the situations the main characters find themselves in.

On the whole an excellent read, highly recommended book by an old favourite of mine!

Enjoy! - I did!

2.0 out of 5 stars A let down, 5 Jul 2006

I did not enjoy this book at all, it just seemed another one of the long line of dragonlance cash ins. I found the plot very dull,no original ideas, the dialogue boring, and there was just nothing very remarkable about this book at all. It was after I had read this book I decided to stick with dragonlance books that only have margaret weis and tracy hickmans name on the front, as these books are some of the best I have ever read. Stick with weis and hickman and you wont go far wrong at all.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, 11 May 2007
By Martin Belcher (Hampshire, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I quite enjoyed this book, I havent been reading a lot of Drgaonlance books recently, although in my past I was an absolute Dragonlance junkie, reading everything I could get my hands on that had Dragonlance on it.

It starts a little slow, but the author builds the central character and you begin to like her more and more. For me its great to meet Jenna and Dalamar again and a brief visit to Palanthas was a great surprise. Altogether a great read, not one for Dragonlance newbies, but definitely one for those that have read all the major books first. Its not got much depth to it but it was enjoyable!
