3.0 out of 5 stars Scene setter, no more or less, 15 April 2003

(REAL NAME)
I gave this book three stars but don't let that put you off. I've read everything I can of Dragonlance and this is a good example of the character expansion that's written for minor character's that are glossed over somewhat in the main story arc books.

NVB is a good writer, Stormblade an especially good example, a better book than this. Here she's written a slow-ish paced book, which helps in its way to reflect the nature of the elven society.

I wanted to find out about the Lioness and that's exactly what this book does, taking you from her birth as a the servant turned freedom fighter, to the end where she's as you observe in the main story arc - elite elven soldier/general.

So if you want the backgrounder then this is entertaining, does exactly what it says on the tin, no more and no less. A good, solid yarn and a must have for fans of the genre, but little use to anyone else.

4.0 out of 5 stars ACE BOOK, 8 Nov 2002
The lioness the qualinesti freedom fighter this book tells of her struggles and tribulations. it focuses on the raids she does on the dark nights and beryls forces also on the tunnels that the dwarves build to help the elves escape qualinesti, it has a few points also on the love she shares with tanis's son gil on the over all it helps deepen the dragons of a series on how the elves survive all thanks to the help of one who saught to fight rather than 'exist'in the age of mortals a truly wonderful yet hardfought time on krynn thanks.
