5.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book, 4 Nov 2001
The book continues the tales of Ulin Majere and Lucy as started in the short story "The Raid on the Academy of Sorcery" by Margaret Weis which is found in the tales compilation "Rebels and Tyrants".
All the usual ingredients are there, dragons, Dark Knights, kender, scoundrels and heroes, and it didn't take me long to finish reading. If you have read and enjoyed the other book by Mary H Herbert in this series, "The Clandestine Circle" then you'll enjoy this one too. There are a few tie ins with that book but they are only very small and not important to this story. I didn't find this book quite as "unputdownable" as The Clandestine Circle, however, it is a very enjoyable addition to the history of Krynn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything a good book needs, 2 Feb 2006
By Mr. David James "davepbgrg2" (United kingdom) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book has everything a good book needs in it, likeable characters, places you can picture in your head, quite a bit of travelling as well which is fun to read about. What I found most enjoyable about this book was that the author takes time to tell the reader little details, such as like what theyre having for dinner and just little things that make the novel that more immersive. Ulin and Lucy, the 2 main characters are fast on thier way to joining my favourite characters of the dragonlance world.
Please note you should try and read the story "The Raid on the Academy of Sorcery" which you can find in the dragonlance book entitled Rebels and Tyrants, as this gives you a good introduction to the characters, but this is by no means essential and this novel can easily be read as a stand alone novel.
In conclusion, I highly reccomend this novel and am already looking through the other books Mary Herbert has wrote, because she did a bang up job on this one,
