1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the effort, 8 Jan 2001
By A Customer
What can I say? This book stinks. The story revolves around a character named Pirvan. It starts of elegantly in a middle of his knighting ceremony. One would obviously think with this in mind and with the title, the story is about Knights. But no! It is in fact a story about a grown man who has adolescence urges every time he sees a woman and seemingly cannot control himself. Why does the author feel the need to have the character strip down to his loincloth and gloves to save the day every few chapters?!? The only reason I gave it a one star was because the author kicked in a dragon or two, which I found was very well handled. I would insist that the author leave his attempts at writing about people, and change to dragons. The plot of how a thief became a knight had a lot of potential, this book does not reach it. If you looking for a good book, look elsewhere.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not the story I expected or hoped for, 23 May 2004

This review is from: Knights of the Crown (Paperback)
I like reading about knights and the knighthood. Their code and measure, built upon virtues like "honor", "bravery", "chivalry" and others in that vein appeals to me. We have too little of it in our world. Then to read about an immoral, dishonest person... -A kind of anti-hero- ...is not uplifting at all. I was very disappointed about this book, and I think the title holds a promise of glory that were not by any means fulfilled. It is also written in a complicated language. That could be me, but I've rarely had more problems with following the plot in a book. Maybe it's because I didn't become interested. To be honest, the book has its merits. But they are too few, and not a big part of the story. Like the first review pointed out: It's not worth it. Read "The Warriors, part 2: Maquesta Khar-Thon" instead. Now, THERE's a good book!
