I have spent a lot of money buying instructional CDs, DVDs and books for the tabla. All of them were rubbish. This is the single best book and CD I have come across. The book is easy to follow with precise instructions and clear illustrations. The CD follows logically with each lesson. The book develops the student progressively from lesson to lesson including historical background behind each one. A very good book. I wholeheartedly recommend it to any beginner learning the tabla.

I have just started learning Tabla from a Guru. this books provides the neccessary Theoratical knowledge required to master the most difficult percussion instrument in the world. I think the best way is to use this book + CD walongwith the guidance of a Tabla Guru to learn the art.
