The biography of actress Anna Maria Pierangeli, from her early life in Italy to her death at 39. Discovered by Vittorio De Sica, she soon after starred in her first film, "Domani e Troppo Tardi" (Tomorrow Is Too Late), and began a meteoric rise to fame in Italy. She arrived in Hollywood in 1950, age 18, and the first thing MGM did was change her name to Pier Angeli and predict great things for her. The book covers her seven year career with MGM, her two unhappy marriages (to Vic Damone and Armando Trovajoli), her love for her children Perry and Andrew, her brief and stormy relationship with James Dean, her dependent relationships with her mother and such stars as Kirk Douglas, Richard Attenborough and Debbie Reynolds, and the mystery surrounding her death.

I felt the author was interpreting alot of things, When i was reading it sometimes i felt like i was reading Paul Alexander. There are very few books about Pier on the market and because of this account of her i have no idea what is fact and interpretation. there wasn't alot of detail regarding her affairs with James Dean and Kirk Douglas, regardless of there being an entire chapter dedicated to each. And the affair with Dean was taken mostly up with comments made by her family who loathed him, trying to make out that her feelings for him were nothing. I find this immensely untrue and felt comparing to people who used to go with Jimmy and Pier when they were dating that she would've told her mother and sister anything in order to keep the peace at home.She was exceptionally weak and i grew an instant dislike to her over powering mother whilst reading the book.
Not a bad book, however i would like to read more boigraphies about her if there are any, and more about people who knew her personally.
