5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great book with worthless software in it., 6 April 2000
By A Customer
This is a great book accompanied by worthless software. First I ran the SETUP program in the floppy, and it gave me an error message saying that I needed to install this program from its original disk.

Took the book/disk combo back to the bookstore. Another book, same problem.

Today I got my third copy; and now I have a super-duper new computer running Windows 2000. Another problem "Must Install From The Distribution Diskette"

Bittman uses extensively the accompanying software to explain all of his techniques.

This is an excellent book if you can find a $2,500.00 Options analysis software package (like OptionVue or Option Oracle) with wich to try the examples in the book.

Don't even bother contacting the publisher (they run their business like a government office; you know: Nobody knows anything!)

Bittman does a great job explaining the buying and selling of Options on indexes (DJX, etc), including: Vertical Spreads, Stradles and Strangles, Ratio Spreads, etc.

Sad that the software included was not in Excel or somthing simple and easy to install and use.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing for experienced traders., 22 Jul 1999
By A Customer
I was lead to believe that the book targeted traders who want to trade the index vs stock-options. this is basically a book for beginners who are unfamiliar with spreading, arbitrage etc. The book is based on a software, which in my opinion is not that great. Read Natenberg instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Book based on poor software, 30 April 1999
By A Customer
This book is based largely on a software package which comes with it. The software allows only one install. If you have to reformat your hard drive (happens to me) chuck the whole works. They want more $$ for a replacement program than the book costs. If you must buy it, copy the diskette before install. There is no warning. Software is for European Options, not American. You can get better freeware. I regard this as highly amateurish, and feel really ripped off. The book itself is ok, but worthless if you lose the software.
