5.0 out of 5 stars A gripping and terrifying read, 15 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Wow! This is the best Jonathan Kellerman novel yet. The plot is complex yet utterly believable; characters are as sharp as ever; and the pace is breathtaking. If you want a book that will grip you from cover to cover, then this is it! But be warned, it might give you nightmares.

3.0 out of 5 stars Survival of the Fittest, 29 May 2008
Having read all the previous Kellerman novels, there is a definite sense of fatigue about this book. Perfectly readable but there's nothing new here. Delaware is still Delaware, Milo is still Milo. The one aspect of these novels that continues to annoy me is Delaware's girlfriend Robin. I have no idea of her character at all, Kellerman gives us nothing so she remains resolutely one-dimensional. I feel Delaware has more chemistry with Milo, who is a character with far greater depth than the paper doll that is Robin. I see the next novel 'Billy Straight' features a female lead so it will be interesting if Kellerman can write a female with some depth beyond sexual neuroses.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great book that kept me up until I finished it., 9 Jan 2001
Once more, Jonathan Kellerman drives us to the dark depths of the human soul. As a great psycographer, he creates characters the reader can identify with and follow them through the labyrinth of prejudice, vice and malice that unfolds before them. A great book that kept me up until I finished it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid but unremarkable thriller
I've read all of the Alex Delaware books before this one, and also The Butchers Theatre (whose main protagonist is in this book), and I've liked them all too. Read more
