5.0 out of 5 stars Gore Blimey!, 10 Nov 2003
In this book, Garth Ennis releases HIS version of a THOR enemy on the world. Harald Jaekellson and his vikings, cursed by a 10th century wise man to 'eternal pain and damnation' and to travel the seas for 1000years 'though you travel for 1000 years you shall not find the land you seek!' have just arrived in New York. They are virtually unstoppable and it will take the combined might of Thor, Doctor Strange, Sigrid the battle Maiden, Magnus of the Danes and a WW2 German fighter pilot to stop them... With this being a MAX release, the comic boundaries are shattered, with blood and gore being the order of the day. NOT FOR CHILDREN!

1.0 out of 5 stars Ennis on auto-pilot, 8 Jun 2004
By Oswald Cobblepot (Bristol, England) - See all my reviews
Garth Ennis seems to me to be three different writers: the untouchable comics genius that wrote Hellblazer and Preacher, the slightly less amazing but always entertaining and amusing guy who writes Punisher, and the... other guy. The one who wrote Goddess. And this.
After a promising start, this descends into a tedious, repetitive and violent-for-violence's-sake rampage around New York. Flippant to the point of laziness, it takes about ten minutes to read and seems to have little actual interest in Thor himself, who is sidelined in favour of Doctor Strange. I don't even like the artwork much.
In short, if you want an example of Ennis at his best, don't come looking here.
