4.0 out of 5 stars Daredevil: Guardian Devil, 7 Jul 2003
For fans of Daredevil this is an excellent story, the artwork is brilliant in a cartoony manner and the book draws the reader in at the very beggining.

The premise behind the story is that Matt (Daredevil) has been entrusted with the safety of a baby, who may or may not be either the second coming, or the destroyer of the world. Then his already crazy life slips out from under him. This is a strong Daredevil story with Matt, handling the challenges of his life as a flawed man and not a perfect hero, which is what makes the stories so interesting. However those new to the character may find a number of the references slightly baffling. Saying that the part with Bullseye, who many may know from the film, is excellent and Bullseye really is at his twisted best.

The biggest problem is the ending, although the story is excellent, the ending seems a little too rushed and leaves the reader feeling slightly cheated. Not the best Daredevil stroy ever told but certainly very good. Though not as good as Frank Miller's run on Daredevil, fans of Miller should cetainly enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The man without fear?, 18 Mar 2003
By D. Griffiths (Dover) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Daredevil is the man without fear. He was blinded in an accident and by a twist of fate all of his other senses have been amplified. He uses this 'disability' to his advantage, and captures criminals in his neighborhood, Hell's Kitchen.
This particular book follows on from Kevin smith's 'Visionaries' without being a continuation. It's a seperate story in it's own right, and a good one at that, with Kingpin playing slightly dirty in his battle against Daredevil. This book also introduces us to Echo, a deaf woman who can imitate actions perfectly. Finally a decent love interest for Matt?

The artwork is truly gorgeous, it's a middle ground between the intense cartoon style of the previous 'Visionaries' and the stiking, yet detailed sketching of the follow on 'wake up'.

This is a definate for not just comic book fan, but also for the casual or new reader. The art is spot on while the story itself doesn't blind the reader with unimportant facts about our hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as The Watchmen or Dark Knight Returns!, 23 May 1999
By A Customer
I picked up this series a couple of days ago and I can not say enough about it. The art is truly breathtaking and the inking is equally (if not even more) stunning. But the story is the meat for the mind to chew on, too. Kevin Smith, this is perhaps the best series I have read in the past year. This reminds me what this genre is capable of doing. You involve spirituality, romance, loyalty, betrayal... and it is all so well-written.

Do yourself a favor. BUY THIS ISSUE! It will NOT disappoint you, I believe.
