This book is a must for anyone who wishes to play "Zoo Tycoon". Since the so-called "manual" that goes with the game does not cover thorougly even basic issues, you need extra guidance. Well, the author offers it and it is all-covering and all-useful. He provides information on gameplay, in detail and in logical steps, some instructions on how to play the scenarios, and - to crown it all - extensive data-tables, on animal preferences, guest satisfaction and economic issues. Free-form games are up to the player, but one has only to refer to one of the book sections, if he does not remember what to do.
A special thanks for the "Stars of the Show" (the animals) section. It permitted me to build exhibits that give animal happiness over 98%. Don't hesitate, if you are a Zoo-Tycoon addict, buy it by all means!

Given the scant coverage that the manual gives this strategy guide gives you everything you need to make your zoo from information about what the best scenery is to ways to make more money to what plants and rocks and terrain animals need. (More money is more exhibits.... is a bigger zoo).

Using this guide I got all my zoo exhibits to above 95% and I completed one of the most difficult challenges of all - my Giant Pandas had babies and within a couple of months of the exhibit opening gaining me $50,000 in the game enough for three more exhibits.

Now that the Marine Mania expansion pack is out which is soooo amazingly brilliant I am eagerly waiting for the strategy guide to that.

This book is the way all manuals should be written.

I had already had the game Zoo Tycoon for a couple of weeks before I was given a copy of this book as a Christmas present; I had therefore worked out quite a lot of the gameplay for myself. However, I found this book extremely useful for fine-tuning my techniques. In the more advanced scenarios, every little extra thing helps a great deal and the detailed information on the needs of each animal were very helpful. One of the best bits in the book is the appendices at the back, which summarise the most important parts of the book.
If you have the game and want to get the best out of it, buy this book!
