4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting book, 24 Sep 2004
This book consists of a selection of adapted chapters published in other, specialised, works. There is a lot of good "newbie" information, but it also delves quite deeply into the important parts of WinXP Pro, such as security, networking and the registry. As a confirmed and experienced W2k user, I'm a relative newcomer to XP and I was pleased to be able to home into where the two OSs differed and how to gain the best advantage, particularly in the various ways that the registry could be backed up and restored in the event of a problem. I'd recommend this book to anyone, from a beginner to an IT expert, who is encountering XP Pro for the first time. However, I bet that old-time users can also learn a lot from it. Excellent value for money (and it doesn't come with a CD-ROM whose only use is as a coaster!).
