5.0 out of 5 stars A truly authoritative guide to HTML, 7 Dec 2000
By A Customer
This book has been my main reference source for HTML for the past six months, and has proved the clearest and most authoritative source I have found so far.

It is split roughtly 50:50 between tutorial and "Master's Reference" sections. The former is very adequate and clear, with useful notes on practical and legal considerations in site design and preparation; the latter is a god-send, since it lists and explains every HTML command together with a comprehensive list of attributes (with examples, syntax and degree of support in different browsers).

The book also provides enough basic JavaScript and CSS for the "occasional user", and has useful appendices on HTML extended character and colour codes.

If I have a criticism, it is only that the page formatting of the master reference could be a little clearer. It will be interesting to see what the 300 or so extra pages in the Premium Edition of this book have to offer (if not larger print!). As I'm about to order a copy, I may write a follow-up review answering that point.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent stuff, 6 Dec 2000
By A Customer
Excellent stuff - I've now set up 3 websites building on what I learnt from this book (but I can't tell you the URLs because that's against Amazon's review guidelines: sorry!!). If you need to know how to do it in HTML, this is the book you need for the job.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very helpful book!, 5 Jun 2000
I was relatively new to HTML when I purchased this book and wanted to have better understabding of HTML. This book has provided me with a better understanding, infact it has provided a very precise and detailed account of HTML. I suggest that any one who wants to understand HTML to read the book. It is also an excellent resource for experts alike!
