2.0 out of 5 stars A struggle to read. Doesn't cover all you need. Don't buy., 2 Jul 2001
By A Customer
I've used Sybex for all my other exams (the 4 NT core exams and Exchange 5.5) and found them to be excellent, easy to read, comprehensive and a good source of exam questions.

Not this book though... It really is a drag to read. The chapters seem very very long and the review questions aren't anything like what you'll see on the exam. What's more, there are many errors in the book, both factual and grammatical. This book has not been proof-read properly. Some sentences just don't make sense while others just stop mid sentence. One sentence didn't even contain a subject, so you had no clue what it was about.

I failed the exam with 640. I needed 680. Granted, I didn't have enough hands-on experience to be confident, but the exam was a real shock and not what I was expecting at all having done all the practice questions twice. There was terminology in the exam that just wasn't covered in the book.

Contrast this with Sybex's Exchange Server 5.5 exam, where the practice questions are more or less what you'll see in the exam.

I'm going to get myself a better book and retry the exam.

2.0 out of 5 stars Look Elsewhere !!, 5 Feb 2001
By Mr. Stuart G. Taylor (Jersey, Channel Islands) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am not one to complain lightly but this book deserves a poor review. I have used the Sybex/Network Press study guides for all of my previous exams and found them very good. This one is the exception. To be candid it lacks detail and doesn't cover everything you will be tested on in the exam. It is also riddled with errors which is unforgivable. I stopped counting errors after a dozen. Buy the official MS Training Kit which is more expensive but better and also includes the 120 day evaluation. I still passed though !!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good book but not 100% suitable for the exam, 19 Oct 2000
I found the book easy to read and understand like the five other sybex books that I have read and used to study for my MCSE. With the inclusion of the SQL 7 trial version I would have given it four stars.

However, if I had relied on this book as my only source of information I would have failed this exam as the book didn't cover everything. Therefore a less than average two stars.
