Synopsis
This book is a full-length instruction course designed for both classroom use and self-study. Fifteen lessons illustrate the fundamentals of the Twi language through dialogues, vocabulary drills and grammar explanations. Using conversation as a learning tool, it details the different tonal pronunciations, inflections and the important role that they play. Cultural, history and social topics are discussed throughout each dialogue.

The book assumes that you have a set of tapes available.. The book is written as a guide to those who know about languages - so if terms such as 'diacritical' trip of the tongue, and you can already speak a tonal language - you may well succeed without the tapes. My copy is currently doing nothing - there are some interesting ways to insult a speaker - but if you cannot distinguish the four ways to pronounce 'papa' you will not know what you have just done/bought/...  Comment | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you?
