2.0 out of 5 stars no example sentences and no distinguishion of feminine gende, 11 Sep 2001
By A Customer
This dictionary is just ok, not perfect in any sense. I rated it only with 2 stars because it misses 2 important things: 1) There are no example sentences, so the learner won't see the correct usage of a word. For a beginner this is the most important thing - it helps to tell the nuances of the word's meanings. 2) Masculine/feminime genders are not distinguished at all - they're placed together under a "common gender". In my opinion the learner of Norwegian should learn to distinguish all the genders right away from the beginning because that's the language that's used in current Norway. My Norwegian teacher told me that in Norway only very conservative or old people use the common gender.
