This review is from: Whippoorwill (Paperback)
"sleeping with men for money was not something Leticia Murphy had planned doing when she grew up, but then neither has she planned on being orphaned at twelve.Living in lizard flats looking for something better in her case wishing for a second chance.there was a ritual she performed from her childhood each evening as the sun was going down, she would sit quietly listening for the call of the whippoorwill, calling for her mate.then one day word began to spread the area that a real preacher was coming to perform a wedding.the news set off a whole series of unforseen events and caught in the excitement of it all was Leticia hoping that change was coming for her too." this is one of those books, set in the past and not giving alot of the story away that put me off reading this book for a long time and i have to say that i'm glad that i did give this book a chance - it really was a wonderful book.Sharon Sala has written a book about hope to those that hope seems like a dream, it was heartwarming and very funny at times.i would reccommend this book to every Sala fan.this just goes to show why she is my favourite author at the moment.
